The Moment When a McLaren P1 GTR One-Ups a "Normal" P1 on the Track

When a McLaren P1 GTR hits the track, you risk getting hit by it, albeit at slow speeds, you learn to fly, or do whatever it takes to catch the racing incarnation on camera.
The "guidelines" mentioned above are wrong at so many levels and yet we believe a part of the supercar spotters that attended the high-octane event in the videos below followed them in their quest to preach the Woking religion to the world.

Oh well, at least things went smoothly and we ended up with a pair of clips that are worthy of our undivided attention. We're particularly captivated by the first video, which brings us the moment promised in the title above.

And the "normal" P1 is the only member of the HHHT (Holy Hybrid Hypercar Trinity) that has to deal with such pressure. While the Porsche 918 Spyder easily gets away, as Zuffenhausen hasn't built a racing incarnation of its halo car, the LaFerrari did serve as the starting point for the FXX K, but there's a catch here.

To be more precise, the FXX K hasn't been converted back to street use, as is the case with the P1 GTR. And even if Maranello's strict hand would allow the two to meet at the track, the LaFerrari could always lose the FXX K by stepping outside the limits of the circuit.

Nowadays, the latest trend in the hypercar realm is to drive around in a road-legal P1 GTR.

One might've expected such a vehicle not to make sense. After all, GTRs were only sold to P1 owners, so why would the latter need two P1 flavors for the street? Well, British racing specialist Lanzante Motorsport didn't see things this way when they came up with the conversion.

And while the P1 GTR you see here might not have been given such treatment, the move might just happen - over the last months or so, we've seen a few P1 GTR examples showing up on European roads.

The two Woking beasts got together at a Dutch event held last weekend on the TT Circuit Assen. And while we had already shown you the kind of adventures that took place at the event, we simply had to bring this back under the spotlights and focus on P1 matters - those of you who only care about zooming in on the P1 GTR should check out the second clip below.
