As summer is rapidly approaching, most of us are thinking about a Roadster to fulfill our open-top desires over the sunny season. The College Driver decided to review what MINI has to offer in this segment, in case you were thinking about getting a cosy little roadster.
The MINI Cooper S Roadster will keep your senses alert while cruising down the road. With its 184 HP and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque you'll never feel slow, even though the car has only a 1.6-liter engine. Also, the legendary driving characteristics of any MINI are still present on this little gem and heads will definitely turn when you're driving down the street.

The MINI Cooper SD Roadster is kind-of the same story just that you'll be even more fuel efficient. The diesel version has a 2-liter turbocharged engine with 305 Nm (225 lb-ft) of torque and 143 HP. With a combined fuel consumption of around 52 mpg (4.5 l/100km) you'll definitely keep on cruising with this open-top sensation.

The hardcore version, the MINI Cooper John Cooper Works Edition will glue your liver to the back of your seat. This time, the 1.6-liter turbocharged unit under the bonnet was tuned to deliver 211 HP and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque. The go-kart feeling is right at home inside this little beast the adrenaline levels will reach record numbers while driving it.

Each car has its pros and cons but ultimately its just up to you to decide which one suits your needs best. The JCW might be too hardcore for some whilst the SD is definitely not for everyone, as this model's not available on the US market. After all, it's just a matter of taste and finances.
