The Messerschmidt-Sounding SLS AMG is Back

As some of you have probably noticed, almost every AMG-related video we feature on our blog is in one way or another about the way that particular model's exhaust sounds, with the focus usually being put on the M156/M158 family of engines for obvious reasons.

Last week we showed you some YouTube footage of a black Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with an Akrapovic exhaust system that made it sound pretty close to a Messerschmidt Bf 109 during a dog fight.

Today we found a much longer video of the same car doing rounds of both the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit and the old Green Hell and we just had to share it with you guys.

The Akrapovic Evolution Line exhaust system for the SLS AMG is made out of a proprietary titanium alloy, weighs 12.4 kg (27.3 pounds) less than the original system and it also brings 12 hp and 13 Nm (10 lb ft) of torque more from the engine.

When you add all that plus the hair-raising sound, there is no denying that the results are pretty contagious and the repeat button on the video bellow might even suffer a beating. Enjoy!
