The Lotus 2-Eleven GT4 Racer Revealed

Customers who are looking at buying a club racer car for the weekend have just received a new present from the Lotus Sport manufacturer.

Following the design of the 2007 version, the new GT4 Supersport has a surplus of 15 HP and 181 lb-ft of torque, and features a full roll cage, a sequential gearbox connected to the engine ECU which allows the gearbox “autobliper” function to work properly, a system which controls the torque output in the case of full or half open throttle gear-shift situations and the current gear number display screen.

Lotus Sport claims that some of the changes done to this model can also be applied to previous models bought or ordered.

“The GT4 Supersport has some exceptional new features and provides a compelling package that has race winning credentials. This is a hugely exciting new car for Lotus Sport, we have already had good success in mainland Europe with the test car and we are looking forward to our customers successes in the 2009 season", Chris Arnold, head of Lotus Sport, said in the official press release.

The 2-Eleven will feature a front double wishbone suspension with stiffened springs and adjustable Ohlins dampers, allowing a fine tune in order to attain the optimum race setup. The rear suspension has also been upgraded with race spec rear-toe links, while all wheels are shoed with AO-48 Yokohama semi-slick tires.

In compliance with the FIA GT regulations, the 2-Eleven will now have carbon fibre race seats with Schroth 6-point harnesses, a 70 liter gas tank, a fire extinguisher system and a removable steering wheel which will help the ingress and egress into the car.

Aerodynamics were also improved, giving more significant downforce, 80kg at 100mph, and improved overall stability through the help of a carbon fiber rear wing and diffuser coupled with a balancing deep front splitter.

Further optimized then the previous model, the race tuned ABS retains excellent sports oriented response along with a variable traction control and a launch control system that is already available on the 2-Eleven. All systems were thoroughly tested, and optimized to give stunning fell and control of the race car in most weather and circuit setup conditions.

Planning to initially release only 10 cars that will be ready for delivery in March 2009, the GT4 Supersport will boast a price of £78,255.
