Can’t wait to get on the back of your motorcycle and start roaming the world’s roads? That’s probably the same feeling the guys over at Ducati get as they gear up for a very busy year ahead and a lot of work to come through on all the promises made in the final months of 2020.
After announcing earlier this week the reaching of an important production milestone for “the biggest selling family of motorcycles in Ducati's history,” the Italians end the week with the start of production for the SuperSport 950, “the perfect choice for young riders looking for their first sports bike.”
The motorcycle is one of the many previewed last year, a more comfortable incarnation of its former self, packing inside the frame a twin-cylinder Ducati Testastretta engine. The powerplant is rated at 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 93 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm, making it “fun to experienced riders, but at the same time [...] not intimidating for novice motorcyclists.”
The two-wheeler has new padding on the flatter seat, the height of the handlebars has been revised, and a hydraulic clutch control has been added. The rider can also enjoy a new 4.3-inch full-TFT display with an easier to use interface. Safety-wise, a host of systems are on deck, including ABS Cornering, traction control, wheelie control, and electronic gearbox. The motorcycle comes with three riding modes: Sport, Touring, and Urban.
The new bike is already rolling off the bike maker’s lines in Borgo Panigale, and it should become available next month. It is offered in Ducati red as standard, but the S variant can also be specified in Arctic White Silk. The S also packs fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension with dedicated set-up and passenger seat cover.
More details about the new 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 can be found on the bike maker’s official website.
