The Lexus RX's Japanese Cousin Gets Chromed

Japan has always been at the forefront of technology adoption. These folks would much rather build a complicated computer the size of a phone, program a complex virtual personality and 3D model of a girl then actually go out and meat somebody. Sadly, a chrome car is nothing new, as even Justin Bieber had one a couple of years ago.

But since this is a Japanese car very few of us ever see, we thought we'd show it to you anyway. Photographed at a Toyota event at Tokyo Midtown, one of those art galleries inside a mall, his chromed out SUV is a display piece meant to raise awareness. Launched late last year, the Harrier is a brand new mid-size vehicle based on Lexus RX, but offering distinct styling.

In Japan, this car has been on sale from January 15th and comes with two engine choices. The first one is a 2.0-liter DOGC four-cylinder producing 151 PS nd 193 Nm of torque, the other being a hybrid 2.5-liter and electric motor that deliver a combined systemic output of 196 PS and 206 Nm.
