With the Old Continent now preparing for the cold season, you would expect the velocity war to be over for 2017. Well, you'd be wrong and that's because this fall has brought an incredible max-speed battle, one that might've been won by Koenigsegg and its incredible Agera RS.
It all started back in September, when Bugatti announced the Chiron had set a new 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 mph) world record, with the acceleration phase of the feat taking 32.6 seconds.

Now, Koenigsegg has all but confirmed that the RS incarnation of the Agera has beat that time. And we can tell you that Angelholm has just sent out a social media message, one that comes in the form of the image above.

The K people have also teased a run of the Agera RS on their test track, but this doesn't seem to be the (potentially) record-setting one, since, for instance, the upshifts don't appear to take place at full blow.

Regardless, the Swedes should deliver an official announcement soon. Meanwhile, we'll remind you that the Agera RS and the Bugatti Chiron are so different that one couldn't hold anything against an aficionado who would fill up his garage with both these monsters.

The velocity-focused Agera RS mixes 1,360 hp and rear-wheel-drive with a scale footprint of 1,395 kg (3,075 lbs), while the all-so-lavish Chiron, with its AWD aura, weighs in at 1,995 kg (4,398 lbs).

With Koenigsegg set to retire the Agera RS (the final examples of the monster are set to be delivered by the end of the year), this would be one awesome way for the hypercar to exit the order book stage.

Now, we can't go over the 400 km/h topic without also mentioning the Kawasaki Ninja H2R. And that's because the track-destined two-wheel monster only needs 26 seconds to hit the said velocity milestone. But that's another story for another area of our website.

Update: Here's the record run of the Agera RS!
