The Jaguar C-X75 Is Amazing In the Flesh

It hasn’t been quite the beach grade weather in Frankfurt lately, but luckily the world outside the show looks as if it has frozen at the entrance. In fact, it was all smiles and laughs so far. When we reached the Jaguar stand, however, that’s when it seemed as if the sun hit our eyes heavy. It wasn’t Ra sending its signs on Earth, though, but the reflections on Jaguar’s prototype, the same C-X75 the villain is driving in Spectre.

We have to be honest with you people, we’ve known of Jaguar’s latest masterpiece, we even came close to it once or twice before, but to get to touch the car literally, now that is a whole new level of close encounter. Leaving the eye candy effect aside, we have to mention that it’s all about the details with this beast.

You may have heard of its four 145 kW (194 hp) electric motors - one for each wheel - that together offer a total of 780 horsepower and total torque of 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm). But did you know of its super-cool drivetrain that can independently drive each wheel across the full speed range? This is known as Torque Vectoring.

Then there’s the range thing. The micro gas turbines from Bladon Jets (yes, jets) generate enough electricity to extend the range of the car to 900 km (559 miles). In fact, we’re pretty sure that’s what the 900 K license plate stands for too. If you were to stay all-electric, Jaguar claims we’re looking at an 110 km (68 miles) range, which is still not bad.

There’s also quite an interesting story behind the manufacturing process of this beauty. You see, initially Jaguar planned a maximum of 250 cars to be built in partnership with Formula One team Williams F1. However, due to the ongoing global economic crisis, in December 2012, the carmaker announced the cancellation of production.

That is also why seeing it drifting on the streets of Rome on the set of Spectre a while ago brought a lot of exciting to the brand’s fans. For the rest of the story, we’ll leave you with the visuals listed bellow.
