Armored vehicles such as the BMW X5 Protection VR6 are pretty profitable for automakers that offer such a makeover, but Bentley does not. This is where Inkas enters the scene with the Bentayga, a gentle giant worth $500,000.
Stylized as INKAS with capital letters, the privately held corporation was founded in 1993 in Toronto, Canada. The armored vehicle division came to be in 1996, providing extra-safe cars, vans, and SUVs to financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, government official, corporate clients, and private individuals.

“Our priority was to leverage the Bentley’s value by adding high-quality ballistic characteristics without sacrificing its technical performance,” said chief executive officer David Khazanski. “We made use of Inkas’s innovative materials, which are lightweight but at the same time certified to all globally-recognized ballistic standards.”

Armored to meet the CEN 1063 BR6 standard against bullets from high-power rifles such as the Avtomat Kalashnikova AK-47 and ArmaLite AR-10, this Bentayga also features protection for the fuel tank, battery, and ECU. A floor-to-roof coverage also translated to high protection against explosive, namely two DM51 grenades detonated at the same time underneath the vehicle.

Emergency lighting, a siren, and PA system are a few other highlights, and options include tailpipe protection, a James Bond-esque smoke screen system, engine bay fire suppression system, and electric door handles. Inkas doesn’t mention how much the Bentayga weighs with all the bells and whistles they offer, but nevertheless, it’s not a featherweight.

At 2,440 kilograms (5,379 pounds) as it rolls off the assembly line in Crewe, there’s no denying the Bentayga W12 is one of the heaviest SUVs in the segment. The 6.0-liter engine with twin-turbo technology more than makes up for the heft, developing 600 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.

Don’t expect the Inkas specification to hit 60 miles per hour in four seconds flat, however. That could change with the Bentayga Speed if Inkas can make a case for that model, which also happens to be the fastest SUV in the world (306 km/h or 190 mph). An armored Lamborghini Urus wouldn’t be that bad of an idea either.
