The Indestructible and Inflatable OP Lite Camper Is Ready to Rock Your New Year

“How does something so small get so big!?” “Well baby, some say that everything has a creator, thus a designer. And this, this was just designed to get big!” “Wow! What else can it do?” “I don’t know, something about a helicopter. But you have to watch the video below for that.”

What the two made-up characters above were actually describing is known as the OP Lite. And no, it’s not some weird adult toy, but rather a camper trailer unlike any other we’ve seen. Just to make sure you understand what we’re going to be talking about, please visit the gallery before reading the rest of the text.

Just to kick things off, the OP Lite comes in with a gross vehicle weight of 3,527 lbs (about 1,600 kg). This makes it a bit heavier than the Woolly Bear or Tiger Moth, but those campers aren’t as ready to demolish whatever off-road adventure you have in mind.

When I first laid my eyes upon the camper, I started to ask myself a whole lot of questions. I couldn’t wrap my mind around where I would be sleeping. Then I heard the gods whisper, “It’s Inflatable.” That’s right folks, the structure you see unfurled before you is an inflatable camper, most of it anyway.

The main feature that the Opus team has used on the Lite is an entire interior that is brought to life by air inflating technology. The tent you see before you is inflated in under 90 seconds and is fully pitched in less than five minutes. And even better, the entire system runs off a 12V air compressor that is activated just by pressing a button.

Think about that for a second. You and your spouse or family can set up shop in the time it takes you to find a proper tree to tinkle behind. Heck, let’s say you change your mind the next morning. Deflate everything, lock all the locks, hitch it back up to your truck or 4x4, and off you go.

But just because it inflates, don’t you start thinking that it’s some balloon you can just pop. Nope. If you haven’t had a look at the video below, please do so. What you’ll see will be sure to change your mind about what's before you. If you don’t have the time to do so, I'll sum it up for you; the team ran over the air bags with an off-road vehicle, stabbed it with knives, and even put it up against hurricane level winds. Guess what happened... absolutely nothing!

And the interior, too, brings more than just an empty space. It’s decked out with more than the necessary features to live off-grid. Inside you’ll find a removable table, 12V outlets, leatherette seating, a stereo system with speakers, and an RV-size queen bed large enough for two people.

As for the kitchen, the Lite carries with it an exterior kitchenette that slides out from the body of the vehicle. As small as it may seem, here we find a full four-burner stove, a sink with running water, a 12V fridge and freezer, and a food and supplies storage bin. Honestly, I've seen RVs with less equipment available for cooking.

My only concern regarding the OP Lite is its lack of a toilet or bathroom facilities. There's no mention anywhere on the manufacturer's website about these facilities. But for only a $20,000 MSRP, you can own the 2020 model, bare bones of course. One other thing is you can’t buy one directly from the Opus team. This only means one thing; you’ve got to go through a dealership to own one. So no cutting out the middleman.

Other than that, this cool beast seems to be absolutely indestructible and the perfect tool for people who like outdoor adventures to be as raw as possible.
