Apple tech seems to be ‘growing’ everywhere, expanding more and more into the auto market, and while the Ferrari FF is getting a kit from them to control some car functions, Volkswagen will make a special edition vehicle called the iBeetle.
The new iBeetle edition is scheduled to debut at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show and it promises to be the first car to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone.
Before Applefanboys enthusiasts will make a 2 mile queue at VW dealers with their wallets fully open, they should know that the only thing they will be overcharged for is an ‘integrated’ phone dock (which you can buy from aftermarket vendors anyway) and an app (similar to other ones in the Appstore).
While the dock is obviously used to hold your iPhone in sight and at reach, the app will let you see more info about the car (like oil temperature, a chronometer, a compass and a G-meter, wow !) and also will have ‘special’ functions to further increase the amount of useless posts on social networks.
The car is so dedicated to the iPhone theme, that it even has phone matching colors - white, gray and black accents being used for the interior trimmings. Overall, the car looks good, but the automaker is making too much fuss just for an app and a phone holder.
