A double leg amputee after losing both his feet ina landmine explosion in Angola in 1981, Dave Barr proved that his new condition was absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Even more, he set out on a most daring adventure which carries him and his Harley-Davidson Spotster from the Breton Coast in France to the Pacific beach of Russia, at Vladivostok.
If such a trip is itself a huge accomplishment, Dave's adventure was even more spectacular as much of his Siberian sector had to be ridden during the winter, through marshes which could be navigated only when frozen.
His amazing trip was awarded a Guinness World Book of Records accolade, as it was the first and the fastest ride across Eurasia.
Dave brought his Sportster 883 to Sturgis and donated it to the Motorcycle Museum, along with much of the gear and equipment he used during this unbelievable adventure, including a tank seat cushion a Russian soldier gave him while on the road.
