The Hamiltons Consider F1 Quit Due to Intense Criticism

Winning the F1 title sure is a sensational feeling, but some of the things that come with it are often hard to swallow. Only hours after securing his first F1 title, while also becoming the first black driver to do so and the youngest in the history of the sport, Lewis Hamilton had to face immense criticism from part of the media after Timo Glock refused to battle him for 5th place at Interlagos.

The young Brit is already rumored to not have such a friendly personality within the F1 paddock, while also having to face racist actions – mostly from the Spanish fans – after his conflictual relationship with former teammate Fernando Alonso. Only days before the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend, FIA and McLaren condemned a Spanish site for instigating F1 fans against the McLaren driver (pinchalaruedadehamilton.com).

This, as well as many more actions against the young Brit have led to serious thoughts of quitting the sport in the near future. Although shocking, the decision was confirmed as having been taken under consideration by Hamilton's dad, Anthony, following continuous attack on his son during the past year.

“Sometimes you wonder whether it is worth staying in Formula 1, even when it has been your dream for so long. We are all human and have feelings. When people behave as they do by taking against Lewis it hurts, and nobody wants that for people they love and care about. We are decent people. I don't know why they are doing what they are doing, but I just hope god can forgive them,” said Anthony Hamilton.

Soon after Hamilton secured his maiden title in F1 last weekend, BBC's Radio 5 conducted a show in which they let their public express all their thoughts on Britain's freshly-crowned world champion. Curiously enough, instead of praising their first F1 champ in 12 years, most of the callers on air criticized Lewis on a number of counts, including the McLaren driver moving to Switzerland to escape high taxes in Great Britain.
