The three presenters that used to be on Top Gear have done several clips with the Veyron in different configurations, and it was expected of them to feature the Chiron. This time, the test drive of the Chiron was teased by Michelin, the company that made the tires for the Veyron.

Most likely, the French brand has created the four chunks of rubber that will keep the hypercar on the road at its top speed, so this clip has made us wonder what the three British stars have prepared for their global audience.

As the teaser video tells us, the Chiron is limited to 261 mph (420 km/h) on the road, but its top speed is a secret “for now.” James May, the presenter that is affectionately named “Captain Slow” by his co-hosts, performed a top speed run in the Veyron back on Top Gear, but it was done at the Ehra-Lessien track in Germany.

This video does not show the said stretch of road, but an empty patch of wet asphalt that looks like it is from Europe. Michelin’s teaser video also shows a speed counter that goes to somewhere around 280 mph, but it has a question mark instead of the last digit. If the 280 mph (450 km/h) value is correct, it means that the unleashed Chiron could reach that velocity if the restriction is lifted.

It is wise to note that the question mark could also replace the number nine on display, which could mean a top speed of 465 km/h for the Chiron with its restrictor removed. Evidently, anything between 280 and 289 mph (450-465 km/h) is a possibility, but we will not find out the real figure until someone takes it to the limit on a closed road.
