Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are, to quote a song by AC/DC, back in black. The name of their new car show on Amazon Prime is The Grand Tour and the first episode will air this fall.
UPDATE: the first episode will air this October.

The first thing you need to know about The Grand Tour is that three seasons, each containing 12 episodes, are to be aired. The second thing you need to know about the new show is that the name wasn’t chosen because it is TG spelled backwards, but because the three amigos will take the show around the world, each and every week.

“Not only will the guys travel to different locations, but for the first time ever the studio audience recordings will travel every week, all housed within a giant tent. Amazon customers will have the chance to be in the audience when tickets are released through prize draws this summer.” I have this certain feeling that Jeremy took inspiration from the Bedouins.

If James May were to name the show, he would’ve called it “Nigel” or “Roger.” The daftness continues with Richard Hammond, declaring: “I already love camping. But this is something else.” Right on, Hamster!

“Well, that took a while...” added Jay Marine, the vice president of the European arm of Amazon Video. “After nine months of deep thought, debate and deliberation, the guys have come up with a name that reflects the global ambition of the new show. The Grand Tour will be one of the most anticipated TV launches ever, and we’re excited to be bringing it to Amazon Prime customers around the world this autumn,” concluded Marine.

There’s a more pressing question, however, than why the boys settled for The Grand Tour instead of The Shouty, the Shorty and the Woolly: how can we watch the show? The answer, of course, is to subscribe to Amazon Prime.

The annual fee is $99 in the United States. Per month, that’ll be $8.99. The price is worth it, though, especially if you consider that you get a helluva lot more video material than just Top Gear The Grand Tour.
