Some superyacht designs are meant to showcase the level of ingenuity that mankind can attain, while others show us the very finest in luxury and style. Some, however, do both.
What you’re looking at here is considered a superyacht concept, and not just because it’s big enough for a helicopter and several private parties, but because it showcases an idea that very few designers have thought of.

This seemingly small superyacht is known as the Glauca. It’s a 209-ft (64-m) wonder-vessel inspired by a master of the sea, the Blue Shark. Behind this marvel is none other than Bhusan Powar Design. You may have heard of them recently, but in fact, they’ve been designing yachts for a while now. We can definitely see that experience expressed in this vessel.

Having a look at the aerial view of the vessel, we can see two large bulges on the sides of the hull that offer a spearhead or shark-like look. But that isn’t the main focus of its design. The focus of the Glauca is the private hosting area found aft - yes, the one that looks like a massive set of family jewels.

What the team tried to do with this design was to place a focus on the level of privacy the owner can experience. To do that, they chose to create a space that is set aside from all others found on the ship. To add even more luxury to the whole thing, the walls of the suite are composed of glass to offer an even more amazing experience.

My only objection to housing a party in this space is this: who wants to stare at where you come from all day? I want to see what my future brings; we all know where we’ve been. To top it all off, as you’re hosting a very private party, there’ll be a chopper landing and taking off from your roof. I don’t know about all that.

The rest of the ship, however, is phenomenal. The sharp bow slices into whatever waves confront it and its shape is further accented by the sharp protruding edges I mentioned earlier. It’s here that one of the ship's lounging areas is established. A large forward-facing sun bed and lounging area is ready to accommodate nearly every guest at once. It’s also here that we find the owner’s loft, fully equipped with a full panoramic view of the surroundings.

But if anyone wants to break away from the masses, the deck above is ready to offer some privacy with its own lounging area. One of the perks of this deck is the forward-facing jacuzzi. If you need to cool off, the team also threw in an interior lounge on this deck. Whether it includes a bar or not is not known.

Actually, most of the interior of the ship lacks an actual design. Why? Well, most designers of superyachts don’t put in too much effort into the interior of a vessel as this is just like a home. And who gets to design the interior of a home? The buyer of course.

But the team did take into consideration one thing that's usually overlooked by other design families - the propulsion. This arrow of the sea is designed to house Volvo Penta IPS engines, propelling it to a top speed of 22 knots.

Other than this, the vessel is pretty standard, with crew quarters below deck and more lounging spaces towards the middle of the vessel. But as an inspiration to others who may want to create their own ship, it manages to stand proudly.
