The GLA Gets Odd “Sensations” Sculptural Commercial in France

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA promises to be a best seller in the premium compact crossover/SUV segment, therefore becoming the fourth model built on the MFA (Modular Front-wheel drive Architecture) platform.
After leaving the whole “refrigerant-gate” scandal aside, Mercedes-Benz France wants to capitalize on the GLA's highly successful launch and keep up the momentum until the car's official sales will actually start.

The “Sensations” commercial featuring the new BMW X1 and Audi Q3-fighter is currently made just for France, but the way it's made the and the high budget involved would probably make it appropriate for any country where the GLA will be sold.

The ad starts with a vertical block of carbon that somehow reminds us of the dark monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The giant piece of carbon is then pushed over by a few American football players, which is a bit odd since rugby is pretty big in France, and Europe in general.

The fallen block is then individually and slowly sculpted into the shape of a Mercedes-Benz GLA by a motley crew of characters, including a pair of lovers spending some quality time on top of the hood. Our “like-meter” only started to move after watching the commercial twice, so you may want to give it some time to let it sink in.
