The Fix for Random Apple CarPlay Disconnecting Is Much Simpler Than You Think

Apple CarPlay disconnecting all of a sudden is something that everybody experiences sooner or later, but on the other hand, there are people out there claiming that the whole thing happens on a regular basis, down to a point where everything becomes rather frustrating.

And while the random disconnecting obviously interrupts navigation, music streaming, and pretty much any other running app, many believe the cable is the culprit.

And this happens for a good reason: in most of the cases, iPhone cables that aren’t certified could cause all kinds of problems, including the smartphone no longer connecting to the car or the random disconnects that we told you about.

On the other hand, there are CarPlay users who encounter this annoying disconnecting even with the original Apple cable that shipped in the box of the iPhone. In my case, for example, the occasional disconnecting happened with a genuine Apple cable at totally random times, and this made me think there was something wrong with the USB port of the car.

The fix, however, is much simpler than you’d be tempted to think. And no, the cables aren’t the ones to blame, as everything comes down to the Lightning port of the iPhone. The only thing you need to do is clean the port thoroughly – do this for the USB port of the car as well to make sure everything is alright here as well.

You can use anything from a small brush (such as a toothbrush) to a toothpick if you see any lint that needs to be removed. However, you’d better stay away from screwdrivers or anything like that, as these can damage the port.

If anything, I actually removed the dust in the port with some compressed air – you could also blow into the port with your mouth if you use a new-generation iPhone with water resistance.
