You can deliver pizza and then you can DELIVER pizza. Domino’s has just unveiled a pizza mobile that will not only keep your favorite meal heated up until it lands on your plate but should also help with the company’s sales. Yes, it has a 140-degree Fahrenheit warmer embedded in the back and can hold 80 pizzas. It’s a minivan that will make you a happy customer, apparently.
Believe it or not, the giant pizza maker is not even betting all its money just on the customers’ satisfaction, considering it thinks the vehicles themselves will act like billboards on wheels. You see the car, you buy the pizza - that type of marketing. Speaking of the automobile, you’ll want to know we’re in fact looking at a modified 2015 Chevrolet Spark.

Called Domino’s DXP, which stands for Delivery Expert, it’s a specially designed and built pizza delivery vehicle. It was adapted from a crowd-sourced concept submitted as part of Domino’s Ultimate Delivery Vehicle Challenge. They converted and then delivered it through a partnership between the pizza maker and Roush Enterprises.

100 DXPs will be deployed to 25 markets across the country, and each vehicle will be equipped with the OnStar navigation system, helping drivers deliver their cargo as quickly and safely as possible to customers.

“We love to see fleets use our vehicles in new and innovative ways,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet. “This partnership between Chevrolet and Domino’s demonstrates the versatility, technology and performance our vehicles can deliver - in a literal sense in this case - to fleets across America.”

The DXP only has seating for one, to make room for custom compartments that “stabilize pizzas and secure drinks, dipping sauces, napkins and so on.” The Out For Delivery roof light will let people know if the vehicle is on a mission towards a hungry customer or not. Each car can be customized down to the last detail, as it can be personalized to include the driver’s name, call sign, home base, and more.

Regarding geek features, we’ll mention the car has a side-mounted light that brightens puddles and curbs at night, helping drivers step safely and keep the customer’s order out of harm’s way.

As to what’s under the hood, we’re looking at a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 84 horsepower, has an EPA highway fuel economy rating of 39mpg and a 314-mile estimated range. Franchise owners can also get one, only after they pay about $25,000, of course.
