The third (and last) day of the initial pre-season test of the 2013 MotoGP series in Sepang, Malaysia brought Repsol Honda rookie rider Marc Marquez the first encounter with the gravel patch: the Spaniard crashed at the final corner of the track.
This is the first crash of the 19-year-old Marquez, but he did not sustain any injuries and was able to come back into the testing routine, finishing 4th, just behind MotoGP star Valentino Rossi. Touted to be the Doctor's successor as far as the MotoGP fame is concerned, former Moto2 rider declared that he's happy to have understood why he crashed and made it safely though: "We knew the first crash would come eventually. And now I know a bit better where the limit of the front tyre is. So bit by bit we are learning about everything" Marquez told MotoGP.com.

Marquez concluded: "I am very happy with the results that we have had from these three days, above all because I gradually got more consistent with my times."

"This was what we were looking for from this test. Day by day we improved our times, but this is secondary really. The important thing is that we did our first race simulation, which has helped me to understand the class and the bike better and his given us a lot of information for the next test" he added.

Repsol Honda goes home with a broad smile, after three days of pure, unadulterated success, two bikes which ride very well (and fast) and two riders who promise a great 2013 season.
