As we announced earlier, the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) are preparing some changes to the World Superbike Championship, and we're now bringing you the official document for both the WSBK and EVO classes.
While the 8 engine per season per permanent SBK rider rule was already known, we now see the FIM limiting the engine allocation to 6 units per season per rider. Extra engines are permitted for both classes but the rider using a supplementary engine will start two races form the back of the grid (the one the additional engine is used and the next one).
The EVO machinery can use a different ECU kit as long as the new one is less than 1.5 more expensive than the original system. External ignition and/or injection module/s may be added to the standard production ECU, but their total retail price cannot be higher than the complete ECU kit.
Data-logging equipment (hardware plus software) cannot exceed €1,000 ($1,333) VAT excluded, and a maximum number of 10 sensors can be used. For a more detailed readout, please find the PDF document after the jump.
