The Epic River Finish of the Second Red Bull Romaniacs Day

The Red Bull Romaniacs is already the toughest round in the Enduro championship, but it looks like the Romanian organizers are also eyeing becoming the wackiest as well. The finish line of the second day was set up in the middle of the Cibin, the river crossing Sibiu, the Romaniacs' capital.

Ahead of the third day out in the wild, Johnny Walker leads the Red Bull Romaniacs standings with a slight 4-minute advantage on Graham Jarvis. Alfredo Gomez is third, almost 43 minutes adrift the two, but his third place is anything but secure.

He closely followed by Paul Bolton who is around 40 seconds slower, while Wade Young is still somewhat within striking distance, some 17 minutes adrift Gomez, with two days of hard racing remaining.

Chris Birch retires after high-speed crash

Chris Birch had a high-speed crash while cruising in the 4th gear and damaged his bike, while himself was also feeling a bit beat up. He decided to play the safe card and quit. He could be spotted helping Silver class riders in a very difficult spot and was later confirmed to have only suffered some bruises.

It's hard to say that the configuration of the podium is already set, but if nothing dramatic happens, we guess the top step will be a Jarvis-Walker battle.

The Day 2 finish area provided a most spectacular sight for the cheering crowds. A wallride was build in the middle of the Cibin river. To many riders, it looked very menacing and dangerous, and most of them approached the steep descent very cautiously.

However, it turned out that things were not as tough as they seemed from the top. To reach the finish line, riders had to jump off the plank ramp, wade the river and get back on land. Things have been rather easily for the ones that arrived first, but soon the banks of the Cibin river became a huge sticky mud trap with ruts deep enough to swallow an entire enduro bike.
