The Brabus 900 Rocket Is a Mental Mercedes-AMG S 65 Coupe

If there are two things that any Mercedes-AMG S 65 Coupe owner was missing, those were “more horsepower” and “more torque” from their cars. At least this is probably what Brabus imagined before unveiling what is arguably its craziest tuning creation yet.
Officially called the “Brabus 900 Rocket Coupe,” the latest four-wheeled monster coming out of the small German town of Bottrop is insanity at its best.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG S 65 Coupe, the 900 Rocket is the most powerful Brabus ever thanks to no less than 900 hp (887 bhp) and 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque on tap. Sadly, for reasons of transmission obliteration and other nasty things happening with the drivetrain, the maximum torque numbers have been limited to “only” 1,200 Nm (884 lb-ft), which is probably still enough to transform the rear tires into black pasta.

Those figures are enough to give the ginormous luxury coupe a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed “in excess of 350 km/h (217 mph).”

Brabus engineers took the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine out of the S 65 Coupe, disposed of its turbos and replaced them with custom ones, which feature larger compressor units and turbines.

Two modified exhaust manifolds include larger down pipes, free-flow metal catalysts, and an exhaust system with active butterfly valves for a button-controlled sound.

The V12's displacement has also been increased from 6.0 to 6.3 liters via bored cylinders, new forged pistons and a billet crankshaft with a longer stroke and balanced piston rods.

To better put all that humongous power and torque to good use, Brabus also fitted the Rocket 900 Coupe with a proprietary limited slip differential with a 40 percent locking rate. It also shod the car with high-performance tires from either Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama sized 255/35 ZR 21 at the front and 295/30 ZR 21 at the rear.

A range of 21 and 22-inch alloy wheels are also available while the car's look and aerodynamics were improved with the help of a ton of carbon fiber parts, including an aerodynamic diffuser in bare carbon fiber. A Brabus suspension module lowers the model's ride height by about 15 mm (0.6 in) and can be calibrated for the 21 or 22-inch wheels.

As expected, the 900 Rocket Coupe's interior can be engulfed in the finest materials available. In this case, a light brown and magnolia leather upholstery with beige topstitching and what Brabus calls “Fire” piping was fitted on most of the touchable surfaces. The rest of the interior was adorned with umbra-colored wood inlays with open-pore surface finishes and aluminum.

There is no word on prices yet, but Brabus can offer you the 900 Rocket Coupe either as a complete car or it can built it for you starting with your S 65 Coupe as the base model.
