The BMW X6 Ambulance Is Not Your Regular Aid Vehicle

We don't see ambulances like the type of vehicles that turn heads on the streets, but we might have second thoughts about about this one. After the world’s largest ambulance, we now probably have the world's fastest one.

Based on the BMW X6 xDrive50i model, this is a veritable “monster on four wheels”, as bmwblog.com reports. Power alone wouldn't have been enough for an ambulance, not even the impressive 407 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque it sports, so this one sports all the necessary emergency equipments along with the external emergency lights.

Unfortunately, we don't have specific details on the extra equipment fitted on the BMW ambulance. Instead, we'll go through some technical specs. The aforementioned 407 hp is produced by a 4.4 l V8 petrol engine that pushes the vehicles from naught to 60 (0 to 100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds and can go as fast as 155 mph (close to 250 km/h). If this is not fast for an ambulance, we don't know what is.

The X6 model was introduced in 2008 and is built on a coupe-crossover configuration. The X6 has extremely non-conservative design lines, the most important one being the roofline that goes downwards from the very B-pillar. This design line helped the new model gain several point in terms of sportive, more aggressive and aerodynamic look but lose in terms of rear-seats headroom or cargo volume.

The ambulance is actually based on the X6's top-of-the-range variant and it comes with safety features such as dynamic performance control, hill descent control, dynamic stability, traction and brake control, 4-wheel ABS and front & rear head protection system.

We don't have any pricing info, but we do know that the X6 Ambulance will make its debut at the RETTmobil trade show for rescue and mobility vehicles in Germany.
