As if the previous MotoGP round at Phillip Island was not crazy enough with the first-ever dry race bike swap required by the very aggressive tire wear, the Japan GP at Motegi past weekend was also a bit on the wacky side.
With the Friday operations halted by fog and the huge QP switching schedules with the FP, seeing some spectacular crashes was only natural. Here's MotoGP.com's selection of the craziest crashes of the Japanese weekend.
Honestly, Aleix Espargaro's crash tops them all. The CRT champion literally had to jump off the bike on his own accord as it appears that his brakes or throttle malfunctioned and he was coming in at full speed towards the upcoming turn, with obviously zero chances to regain control of his bike.
We've watched the normal speed footage several times and we still say Espargaro was incredibly lucky to walk out of this accident with no injuries. As for the rider who tried flying, that was almost as scary as Aleix' crash.
