As far as the music listening experience on Android Auto goes, users typically choose between streaming apps, such as Spotify and Deezer, local music players, like Poweramp and Musicolet, and radio apps that let them listen to their favorite online stations while driving.
There are two such popular online radio apps that can be installed on Android and then used on bigger car screens with Android Auto, and these are TuneIn Radio and iHeartRadio.

So if you’re listening to online radio stations in your car with Android Auto, the chances are that you’re using one of these two apps.

And the good news is that both have recently received updates for Android, so you’re recommended to install them as soon as possible.

First of all, TuneIn Radio. Now at version 24.4.1 on Android devices, the most recent version gets a welcome set of improvements and bug fixes, and the dev team says a bunch of crashes have also been resolved with this new update.

There’s no new feature in this update, and you can easily tell that by simply checking out the version number. Build 24.4.1 is actually a revision to the main version, so the whole purpose is to polish the experience even further for everybody.

Then, it’s iHeartRadio, reaching version 9.19.0 with the latest update, which according to the Google Play Store listing went live on June 4 for the first set of users. The parent company doesn’t provide any release notes for this update, so we can safely assume that the goal is to also refine things under the hood.

Bug fixes are particularly important on Android Auto, especially because the experience with the app hasn’t necessarily been the one users expected lately. So if you’re using Android Auto, just make sure that you always run the latest versions of all apps, including not only AA, Google app, Google Maps, and everything else from Google, but also the third-party tools that you use for listening to music and messaging.
