The AMG GT3 Is Nurburgring's Lion King, Roaring at Every Corner

After we saw it wearing kaleidoscopic camouflage during testing and showing that carbon fiber armour in Geneva, the AMG GT3 unleashed its animalic instances where they matter most: on the race track.

The AMG GT3's natural habitat is, of course, the circuit. In this case, the Nüburgring, where most supercar-predators like to flex their muscles and show what they're made of.

No matter how many spyshots you get with a car like the AMG GT3, or how many press conferences you attend during an auto show, seeing and most of all, hearing the car as it abuses asphalt and tires is the real deal.

But since that doesn't happen every day, a video showing the Stuttgart beast rumbling on the Green Hell is like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. In fact, we've seen enough photos of the car and by now we all know how it looks like.

However, the sound of that improved 6.2-liter V8 that was generously passed on by the SLS AMG GT3 is worth all the money in the world. Our advice: go through the video with the volume up and your headphones on, as the engine is pure ear delight when the six-speed sequential transmission shifts down and up in corners.

While such thrills are only available on the race track, Mercedes-AMG wants customers to get a slice of that on public roads as well. The performance division has started works on a tamed, street-legal version of the AMG GT3. But since everybody is waiting for the Black Series, why settle for an inbetweener?
