The Lamborghini Huracan, with its impressive V10, is a great entry into the world of “affordable” supercars. But, how about a unit that’s taken to insane levels and beyond for the drag strip?! Ever imagined that an AWD bolide with the aero credentials of the Sant’Agatha Bolognese brand would do wheelies?!
Calling this modified Huracan crazy is certainly an understatement. This not only because of the build, but also because of the names involved with the modifications – AMS Performance has decided it was time for another Alpha Omega, and thus kept their new Huracan secret up until late October when they revealed it on their YouTube channel (video embedded below, it’s the last one).
With a storied name under its belt, the Alpha Omega Huracan needed to perform as intended... even though it’s still a work in progress. Remember, they first showcased the ride less than three weeks ago, and already they’re performing like a marvel.
That’s because we know the performance is quickly improving – an update from just ten days ago (second-to-last video below) showed the Alpha Omega AMS performance Huracan dropping for the first time below the eight-second mark and quickly into 7.60-second territory for the quarter mile.
Now, an AWD Huracan doing 7.67s at around 186 miles per hour (299 kph) is quite impressive, but we did just say something about performance improving fast in a matter of days... So, the Alpha Omega Huracan was caught by That Racing Channel at the Haltech Hail Mary Derby, probably in its first official outing against other drag aficionados.
And boy did they make an impression! First off, the science. The best run from the Lambo we’ve seen on video was a mesmerizing 7.61s at almost 186 mph. But later on (starting from the 8:35 mark), you can check out some of the other competitors out there – motorcycles posting solid six-second runs, or even specialists dropping below into high five-second territory.
Instead, the Alpha Omega Huracan dazzled the audience with massive wheelies. Read that again: an AWD Lamborghini Huracan went on its rear wheels up high in the air! Well, that’s certainly a sight to behold, and something you’re not used to hearing in the same sentence with “Italian luxury supercar!”
