If you like to read glossy men magazines, we pity you. Not for your choice of pastime, but because these mags feature those idiosyncratic Top 50 Things To Do Before 50. Dating your high school sweetheart, punching a bear in the teeth or riding a jet ski aren’t too relevant, the reason every list of this type should include a visit to the Alfa Romeo Museum.
Of course, you must be a proper petrolhead to properly enjoy a collection of culturally and historically important four-wheeled exhibits. After months of reconditioning, the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese, Milan, is now open to the public and has more going for it other than the “La macchina del tempo” exhibition. Alternative attractions include a cafe, bookshop, documentation centre for all things old and new Alfa Romeo, and a race track.

Celebrating 105 years since the birth of Alfa Romeo, the newly reconditioned and modernized museum is a true testament to one of the most revered automakers of all time. 69 important cars are exhibited here, from the A.L.F.A 24 HP of 1910 to Tazio Nuvolari’s 6C 1750 Gran Sport and more modern creations.

The museum’s designers condensed the essence of the Alfa Romeo brand into three exhibition components: the Timeline - which represents industrial continuity; Beauty - a floor that’s all about design; and Speed - the third part of the museum that illustrates technologies across the museum's sub-ground floor.

After you’re finished visiting the three main exhibitions of the Alfa Romeo museum, then you enter the so-called Temple of Victories. This is a specially appointed area where a show of pictures, sounds and film footage presents the 10 biggest triumphs in the history of the Italian manufacturer.

The journey through the legend ends with the “bolle emozionali” (emotional bubbles), an area that’s dedicated to experiencing the Alfa Romeo world, with 360-degree virtual reality film footage, as well as a room where visitors sit in interactive armchairs and watch 4D films of old Alfa Romeo automobiles.

The adjacent audio-visual material is just a taste of what’s in store for you if you decide to visit the museum.
