The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG is the smallest AMG ever, but its diminutive size is indirectly proportional with its performance apparently.
By performance we're not only talking about its naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) time – even though, at 4.6 seconds, it's not exactly a slouch in that department – but also about the model's racing track prowess.

Checking out the following video, courtesy of the French from Motorsport Magazine, we realized that the A 45 AMG is not only the fastest accelerating hot hatch on the planet right now, but it's also the fastest hatchback on the very technical Magny-Cours Club racing track.

Its 1'25”82 time on the 2.5 kilometer (1.4 miles) circuit is faster than a Lotus Elise S, a Porsche Cayman, a Renault Megane RS Trophy and even a 2011 CLS 63 AMG with the 557hp Performance Package.

If that isn't impressive, considering we're talking about a front-wheel drive-based all-wheel drive hot hatch, we don't know what is. Check out the video below for yourself and be amazed.
