We still remember how we called the GLC Coupe a "BMW M4 Rival" way back in April 2015. That's when it was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show, and less than a year later, the production version is being presented in New York.
Mercedes has just released this short 25-second teaser video where the baby Sports Activity Coupe announces its arrival for March 23.
Of course, we don't need to see yet another video of a camouflaged prototype, since we've been following the GLC Coupe all over the place, from the Autobahn to frozen lakes in Lapland. But it's nice to see it going sideways, even if it's on a wet skid pad.
Although it may appear identical to the regular model, the GLC Coupe should have standard stiffer suspension and several smaller tweaks that make it handle better. BMW went as far as to lower the seating position for the X4, so that might be updated too.
There's something off about the sound of the exhaust in this teaser clip, as the model being presented looks like a basic 4-cylinder and sounds like a V6. The good news is that we know there's a GLC 43 Coupe, as the red rooster from yesterday has the same front bumper as the AMG model presented moments ago.
Styling-wise, the main difference is at the GLC Coupe's rear, which features narrow taillights similar in design to the C-Class Coupe.
An insane amount of configuration options will ensure that Mercedes customers can spend a fortune on options. They might get four body styles (Standard, Exclusive, Off-road and AMG Line), lots of colors, and dozens of wheels from 17 to 20 inches in diameter. You could even order one in dark brown!
Engine choices will include two gasoline 2.0L units (250 and 300), two small diesels and some V6 powerhouses. Everything will be bungled up using the latest 9-speed automatic gearbox and some impressive safety features.
