Almost every car enthusiast out there has waited for the legendary NSX’s successor to be launched. The car may or may not live up to its name, but until we find out for ourselves, let's think about a new minor detail that has just been revealed: its price.

The 2017 Acura NSX is expected to be available for purchase from February 25, 2016, and its price will start at $156,000 (MSRP). If you think this is a lot, wait till you see the fully equipped version, which will cost $207,500.

Nobody says it is wrong to ask that kind of money on a highly expected super sports car, but let’s face it, that’s almost Lamborghini or McLaren pricing. And you’ve got to admit most models from those brands are more powerful and have a brighter history behind.

Acura hasn’t revealed what are the options that will add approximately $50,000 more to the car's price in the fully equipped version, but an online configurator for the NSX will be available nearer its launching date, so we will probably find out then.

The carmaker has also announced that the first 2017 Acura NSX will be auctioned off in January, and all the proceedings will be donated to two children’s charities. The highest bidder will be able to configure his/her new car any way they want as the model hasn’t been built yet.

The engine is not the only part being hand-built, as every bolt is hand screwed by a technician, while the exterior panels are also installed manually.

The 2017 NSX has been first revealed to the public at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. It will be powered by a hand-made, twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 engine, which, together with three other electric motors, will generate 550 horsepower. Every engine takes over six hours to be built and is machine balanced.

On top of that, it will also feature a specially tuned Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System, along with ten air-cooled exchangers for keeping the powertrain’s temperature under control.

Although the majority of us believe the price is a little steep, Jerry Seinfeld ordered one on the spot at this year's NAIAS. Even so, he won't be getting the first one built.
