The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Sounds Ludicrous without Its Mid Mufflers

In today’s automotive world, there are a couple of V8 engines that are writing history. And what more obvious example could we offer other than the one that helped coin a new world record? We’re talking about the 6.2-liter V8 used on the Hellcat models of today.
Equipped with a supercharger and taken to no less than 707 HP and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque, the beast allowed the Charger SRT Hellcat to become the fastest sedan on the planet. For a little while, it was also the fastest sedan on the Nurburgring until the lighter and more agile Alfa Romeo Giulia QV showed up and took that away from it.

Not to dwell on such titles and rivalries, we’re here to talk about the sound this car makes. It’s no secret that a huge V8 like that would raise the dead in any given situation but what if, for some people, the standard setup isn’t enough?

Madness you say? Well, we’re not all that crazy as it turns out, this kind of people actually do exist! The guys from Vehicle Virgins found someone with such extreme desires. The result might very well be the loudest V8 we’ve ever heard even though we don’t have exact numbers.

The owner of the car in the video below decided to give his car a bump in loudness and deleted a muffler or two. Thankfully, he didn’t remove the final one as that would’ve just rendered us deaf probably but he went for the mid ones instead.

The end result is a ludicrous Hellcat that, as cliche as it may sound, may drive you nuts or at least partially deaf. We have to wonder though, how does the owner handle such extreme levels of noise during his daily commute? We'll probably never know but we're pretty sure that keeping your foot off the gas is a terrible game of will in this case. Just listen to that amazing sound!
