That's Why They Call It the Classic Bike Crash

It would be really interesting to find out how many such motorcycle crashes occur each day around the world. Dozens, hundreds, more? It’s hard to tell, but this is by far the most common type of motorcycle crash involving two or more vehicles.

Now, seeing the rider walk away from the crash site, though visibly battered up, is truly glorious, and he was lucky enough to spot the SUV cutting him off in due time, slamming the brakes and slowing down as much as possible before the inevitable impact. It’s also good to see him still rubber side down, despite the powerful brake… the sign of good training. Can’t tell whether his bike has ABS, even if it looks like it does. However, multiple other riders would have most likely laid the bike down or even flipped it with too much front brake.

Now, the driver will most likely see that he or she did not see the rider, a poor excuse for an excuse, but anyway less prone to draw far worse legal consequences than admitting having ignored the rider. Hopefully, the cops investigating this crash will check the surveillance footage and figure out for themselves that this driver literally ignored the incoming bike. That is, alongside some erratic driving when changing lanes, plus obviously cutting the corner in the intersection.

All in all, it’s good to see how braking skills can save the day, at least from a truly gloomy end.
