I would’ve started this entry with “Meanwhile in the Isle of Wight,” but the photograph above is beyond words. Under the circumstances, seeing a 20-foot (6-meter) tall dinosaur blocking the road when you’re driving home at 3 A.M. is a situation worthy of being captioned by you, the reader, in a comment.
According to a report published by the County Press, the name of the dinosaur is Godshilla, a portmanteau between Godzilla and the Godshill civil parish. Compared to the colossal reptilian monster from the Land of the Rising Sun, the dinosaur featured in this story doesn’t munch on people for a living.
The triceratops model that shot to fame on Facebook thanks to a gentleman called Chris Hollingshead is an herbivore. When it was alive and kicking down trees with its sharp horns as a past time activity, the triceratops roamed North America as the most dominant herbivore of the late Cretaceous period.
The question is, though, how did the dinosaur get in the middle of the road? Martin Simpson, the owner of the triceratops, suggests that a prank is what happened here. Martin didn’t know about the prank until the Isle of Wight Count Press contacted him. "We thought there must be a speed limit for triceratops or something, that we were breaking. But they just wanted to have their picture taken with it!" Mr. Simpson jokingly declared.
After the dinosaur was returned to its rightful owner, Martin told the publication that he would put Godshilla behind an unscalable fence to stop pranksters from stealing the darn thing.
Lisa Choi, the patron of the pub opposite of the place Godshilla was disrupting traffic, suggests that the rascals at fault “must be the same people who tied balloons round its neck and put tinsel over it for Christmas. They've gone one step further this time." What would life be without playing a prank from time to time?
