On August 21st, three American passengers were travelling by train from Amsterdam to Paris via Brussels. A terrorist attack from a 25-year-old Moroccan Islamist fanatic occurred right after the train had crossed Belgium’s border into France.
Shirtless and armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, a pistol, and a bottle of gasoline, the terrorist was tackled to the ground by the previously mentioned three American citizens. Thanks to the bravery of 23-year-old US Airman Spencer Stone, Oregon Army National Guard Specialist Alek Skarlatos, and California State University student Anthony Sadler, the incident was pacified with zero casualties.

Even though all three men tackled the terrorist, Spencer Stone received the most injuries of all involved passengers. Thanks to the bravery exerted to prevent any casualties, Spencer and his other two companions were made Knights of the Legion of Honour by French President François Hollande. I don’t know about you, but when a terrorist pulls an AK-47 rifle on a train car, a normal person would hide in a safe place, not slap a naked chokehold on the guy, all while reaching out and trying to get the AK-47 away from the terrorist.

After all was said and done, Spencer Stone was wheeled out of the train after the incident due to the injuries he had sustained. The most severe of the lot were a deep gouge on the back of Spencer’s neck and an almost completely severed thumb. If it isn’t badass enough to be hero of the day in this situation, I don’t know what is. For the service brought by Airman Stone to all the passengers aboard the Thalys train and the Red, White & Blue, national hero Spencer was invited on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to receive an all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. An SS with a six-speed manual gearbox, to be more specific.

Thankfully for Spencer, he knows how to drive stick, declaring that he had learned the ways of swapping cogs manually in Portugal. Kimmel jokingly says to Airman Spencer that with the 2016 Camaro he just received from Chevrolet, the US Airman will never “have to get on a train again in your life.” In the name of the autoevolution team, we wish Mr. Spencer Stone to enjoy his brand new LT1 small-block V8-powered muscle car to the fullest. Thanks for keeping us safe! You deserve all the good you get... and then some.
