Using the smart phone without handsfree attachments may... well, everybody knows the dangerous consequences for both the driver and other road users. Also, if you live in UK, fines for such bad-habit activities may rise up to 50 percent.
UK ministers plan to increase the £60 (€70.8 or $93) fine for using hand-held devices while driving up to £90 (€106.3 or $140), hoping to stop Facebook and Twitter fanatics to endanger other road users.
"We want to send a clear message to dangerous drivers: If you continue to show complete disregard for the safety of other road users, we will catch you – and we will punish you.”, said UK transport secretary Patrick McLoughin.
More than a million drivers have been charged for not paying attention to the road because of phone activities at the wheel since 2003, when this sort of activities were banned. Some studies have also shown that texting and hand-held use of mobile phones can be more dangerous than being a bit drunk on under the influence of marijuana.
