Car paparazzi aren't nearly as bad as their celebrity counterparts. I mean, just remember how much trouble Justin Bieber had with the guy he ran over in his Ferrari. However, the industrial spies are starting to get a little more aggressive, and car companies hate that they can't carry out their tests in private.
Every time a test driver slips up and lets the carparazzi film him, his boss gives him a slap on the wrist. So it's not surprising that this Hyundai employee wasn't too happy when Youtuber Cvdzijden caught up with the 2017 Equus prototype.

It's covered in heavy camouflage and doesn't even have any badges, so nothing is being revealed. However, the driver is still quite angry. While leaving a gas station located near the Nurburgring, he almost runs over the camera guy. It's not an "I'm going to kill you" sort of move, more like a "get out of my way".

The Equus is not what we'd call a significant Hyundai model. Most European buyers probably don't even know this large sedan exists. However, the Korean automaker is trying to make a name for itself in the premium segment, and this is the model that will help them do it.

Why does Hyundai disguise a minor facelift?!

Or at least we're being told that this is the Equus by the guy filming the video. However, some of the details match a 2017 Genesis prototype we caught in back in August. The Genesis is still a relatively new car, but reports suggest new engines will be added to the range, including a twin-turbo V6.

The weird thing is that the engine sound in the video is a very diesel-ish and there's no exhaust on one side. Could they be working on a rival for the popular BMW 520d and Mercedes E 250 d? No wonder the test driver acted so sneakily!
