Tesla was initially supposed to show the new Model III in March, along with another car, but it seems that things have changed a little bit.
At the end of last month, the company confirmed that they would only show the Model 3 in March, and nothing else. Meanwhile, Elon Musk suggested they would not show the completed Model III next month.
In a Q&A session held in France, Musk was asked about the Model 3, but the CEO of Tesla Motors did not confirm the previous reports regarding the first unveiling of the car.
It appears that Tesla might not show an actual car at all in March, but rather separate components or other elements. Musk explained that they prefer to hold on to the pictures of the Model 3 until they get “a lot closer to production time.”
In the same discussion, Musk states that the first photos of the Model 3 will be shown by the end of March. So they might just show pictures of the car instead of an actual vehicle.
Since the Model 3’s production launch has been delayed from 2016 to 2018, it is going to be a while until we get to see the game changer in the premium midsize segment. Who knows, by the time the Model 3 goes into production, BMW might release their 3 Series in an electric version and steal the $30,000 electric premium midsize sedan market from Tesla’s hands.
