Easter Eggs are no longer a rarity in the automotive world, not when Tesla allows you to play with the Curiosity Rover on the surface of Mars from the comfort of your driver’s seat while on planet Earth. But with the V9.0 software update, the electric vehicle manufacturer will crank things up to a different level altogether according to Elon Musk.
When asked by a fellow Twitter user about Pac-Man, Food Fight, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Tempest, and Missile Command, the chief executive officer answered as follows: “Hoping to include last three in this release.” But wait, there’s more in the offing!

“Pole Position [is] linked to actual car steering wheel (while stationary),” according to Elon Musk, which concluded that Tesla V9.0 would roll out “in about four weeks.” In the final Tweet, the head honcho of the Palo Alto-based company didn’t forget to thank Atari for agreeing to these Easter Eggs.

Even though it’s still alive and kicking, Atari is no longer the visionary corporation it was back in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Headquartered in Paris, France instead of its stomping ground of Sunnyvale, California, the company trades on the Paris Stock Exchange. At the time of writing, a share is €0.47, down from a 2018 high of €0.82 in February. The peak was achieved in September 2009, when a share was valued at €10.6.

In addition to this nostalgia-infused gamer's delight, Tesla V9.0 will bring a multitude of enhancements to the menu. A more expansive and better Autopilot, Dash Cam functionality, and something called Party & Camper Mode have been more or less confirmed.

If you’re hoping to get Level 3 semi-autonomous driving technology with this update, chances are that’s wishful thinking for the time being. And when you think about it, Spotify integration and USB media playback have priority over the next generation of Autopilot.
