Today is the day American Tesla owners get a significant software update. Called V10.0, the software has already begun rolling out to U.S.-based Teslas that are equipped with the full self-driving feature.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Elon Musk himself, who said on Twitter “Tesla V10.0 just started rolling out to all US Tesla owners with FSD option & “advanced download” selected in-vehicle software settings.”
There are a lot of goodies coming with this package, and the most comprehensive of all is that which has to do with entertainment.
From now on, Tesla drivers all across the nation will be able to enjoy all of their favorite Netflix movies, Youtube videos, and Spotify music in the comfort of their own cars. The integration of Spotify for the U.S. market brings customers there in line with European ones, who have been able to access the service as a built-in feature for years.
Another worth-a-look update is the so-called Smart Summon, an evolution of the Summon feature that will allow Teslas to “drive to you or a location of your choosing, maneuvering around and stopping for objects as necessary.”
Other tweaks have been made to the car’s Sentry and Joe Modes, the overall software has been improved, and there’s even a Caraoke feature.
Accompanying the V10.0 update for the car’s systems is a mobile app update. The early access version of the app, which began rolling out on Wednesday, allows the opening and closing of the car’s windows by using the smartphone.
This feature is called Vent in the Tesla app. It is accompanied by the addition of a button meant to start the defrosting system.
So, if you happen to own a Tesla, hurry to your car and phone and start playing. We believe we have a long day ahead of us.
