Mainly sold throughout California, the home of most electric automotive experiments, the Toyota RAV4 EV might just be axed this year according to Tesla’s latest announcements.

Tesla Motors Inc., the electric car company which is also responsible for providing Toyota the batteries in the RAV4 EV, recently said that the supply deal between the two companies will conclude this year. Meaning that Toyota must find another supplier or take out the electric crossover.

“Toyota is expected to end the current RAV4 EV model this year,” Tesla said recantly in a quarterly filing. While the supply deal generated $15.1 million of revenue for Tesla in the quarter that ended March 31, “our production activities under this program are expected to end in 2014,” Tesla said.

In the opposite corner, Toyota’s spokesman John Hanson said the automaker hasn’t announced its plans to end the RAV4 EV program. However, he admitted the deal between Tesla and Toyota was involving “a specific number of vehicles planned to sell for a specific number of years.”

In other news, Tesla plans to build a 10 million square feet factory, intending to stop importing raw materials from overseas and opening its own graphite and cobalt mines in the US and Canada.
