Remember when Elon Musk announced Tesla Motors will kill range anxiety? Well, Model S customers got more than that, and it has a lot to do with fun.
So, Tesla Motors pledged to kill range anxiety once Model S owners will receive the company's Firmware 6.2 through the OTA feature. Nothing out of the ordinary so far, but they did more than just keep a promise.

Everything comes with an Easter egg when Elon Musk is involved. What we mean to say is that besides range anxiety immunity, Model S owners can now enjoy an increased top speed. However, this only applies to the Model S P85D, but still, that should make enough people happy.

A P85D owner took his car for a ride on the Autobahn and managed to hit 155 mph (249 km/h) after the Model S received new software goodies. That's the good news, but there's a downfall to that. The speed can't be maintained for long, which means you'll have to settle for short bursts now and then.

The energy consumption meter turns red at around 145 mph (235 km/h) and from that point drivers get 7 seconds of high-speed fun according to the video below. That happens because the system eventually takes over and automatically decreases speed to 135 mph, a value perceived as 'sustainable' by the brain of the Model S.

In addition, the P85D can go from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds with Tesla's latest software update. This feat places the electric sedan closer to an even more select club of supercars in terms of sprints from a standstill, so we must be wondering what's next on Tesla's list? Will they go for better figures or declare themselves satisfied with what they've got so far?
