The new Tesla Model S P90D may be a dream come true for any torque-loving car person out there, especially when it’s on the famous Ludicrous Mode, but range anxiety remains an issue. If there’s one big problem that stops a lot of petrolheads from switching to performance EVs, it's getting stuck in the middle of nowhere because of a depleted battery.
As the CEO of the company, Elon Musk knows about this matter, so one of the strategies the automaker is counting on is making as many chargers available as possible. One of their plans is to install superchargers in critical locations so that the filling-up part takes as little as possible. Another solution to the problem is planting chargers in all sorts of places. This leads us to the partnership in question.

Tesla have recently announced they are teaming up with Airbnb - a giant accommodation website - to give customers staying for a vacation in the West Coast proper peace and relaxation. Their plan is quite evident, 100 Airbnb hosts in the region will receive free chargers. There are some limitations to this, of course, and being part of those who rent out premium properties is one.

Those who apply for a Tesla charger need to rent out whole properties, to have had at least five bookings and a four-star rating. Even so, they still may not be among those selected. However, there’s another setback, those who will be chosen are still due to spend a few hundred bucks. Neither Tesla nor Airbnb will cover the $200 to $900 installation fee. Moreover, Tesla and Airbnb's shoutout is targeted to those who already have a charger too.

Here’s how the official announcement sounds like:

We’re giving Tesla owners more destinations on the open road. Airbnb and Tesla are bringing charging stations to select homes across the globe, starting with the California coast. Together, we’re building a world with no limits to how far you can travel and how you get there. From remote deserts to lush forests, we’re unlocking highways, backroads, adventures and unique homes.”
