If conventional car owners fear their engines won’t make the same amount of horsepower after some 100 thousand kilometers, electric vehicle owners are concerned about their car’s battery which can degrade in time. How much? Well, that depends on you and this Tesla Model S owner will bring you up to speed over the matter.
There are high chances you already experienced battery degradation on your smartphone or laptop. You know, when the battery level drops way too quickly and it takes more time to recharge it a hundred percent. That’s battery degradation and it will happen to your EV if you don’t know how to prevent it.
Bjorn Nyland is a full time programmer at the University of Oslo, so he gets to understand electronics and electricity quite good. Which is nice, because he got himself a Tesla Model S last year, on which he put about 53,000 km (32,930 miles) the right way.
Since EVs are at their dawn of existence, you might expect that after around 100,000 km (62,100 miles), the battery will most certainly need to be replaced. At least that phone you have started to suffer from battery issues after on year of use.
