Tesla Offers Test Drives During COP15 Conference

As one of the most environmentally conscious car manufacturers out there (given the nature of their products), Tesla Motors announced it will allow those interested, during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, to test drive the manufacturer's electric vehicles.

"The core of Tesla’s business model is sustainability, so we are honored to play an important role in this seminal conference on the environment," Ricardo Reyes, Tesla’s vice president of communication said in a release.

"Tesla has played a leading role in encouraging the global automotive industry to "go electric," and we are thrilled that other automakers, entrepreneurs and policy makers are joining the EV revolution."

The test drives offered by Tesla will be part of the "Drive the Future" events to be held this week, with the Roadster model, as well as with climate-friendly prototypes from other manufacturers taking the center stage.

The conference in Copenhagen is to be a statement of sustainability for all the polluting industries, including the automotive one. With some 15,000 people expected to attend the meetings in between December 7 and December 18, the challenge for the organizers was to provide the lowest possible carbon footprint.

This is why, besides Tesla, carmakers present will bring their best in terms of eco-friendly cars. BMW will showcase its array of EfficientDynamics technologies, while Volvo will provide 60 Volvo S80 and Volvo V70 cars for the transportation of the dignitaries attending the conference.

Out of them, 40 are Flexifuel models powered by bioethanol, while the rest diesel-powered DRIVe models.
