Tesla Odyssey of Pioneers Kicks Off

Following the introduction of the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show earlier this month, the electric car and watch makers announced in the end of the week they will kick off the Odyssey of Pioneers, a 12,000-mile trip around the world.

The tour started on Friday with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the first Roadster owners and official TAG Heuer Ambassador, sending the car on its way together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.

The TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster features an interior design signed by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, created with TAG Heuer design elements. These elements include a specially designed center console, purpose built to host a TAG Heuer concept watch. The watch itself has been revealed on March 18 in Basel.

The Tesla incorporates a TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone and a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch. On the outside, the Roadster comes in Foucault Field Gray and features drawings inspired by the new TAG Heuer concept watch.

The zero-emissions car departed Basel on March 20 and travel in a convoy with about 20 Swiss owners. the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster will recharge throughout the Odyssey using existing infrastructure.
