Elon Musk is determined not to let the recent drop in sales affect the master plan he designed for Tesla Motors as the Palo Alto-based company is on a hunt for sales executives for three major markets: North America, Europe and Asia.
At this moment, all Tesla wants is a higher delivery rate towards its key regions in America, Europe and Asia. In fact, Elon Musk won't settle without a 74% boost in this respect, after the company failed to reach its target volumes for China and more worrying, California.

This strategy also involves Jerome Guillen, vice president of global sales and service for Tesla Motors. He will return to a customer-satisfaction role but according to Tesla, Mr. Guillen was not demoted and will remain part of the senior executive team, reporting straight to Elon Musk.

Tesla Motors is currently evaluating candidates for the three leaders to manage regional store and sales-force operations. According to a statement from Tesla, “once they are on board, Jerome’s focus will be on a post-sales activity from delivery to long-term customer care, where he has done an incredible job. He has taken Tesla to the highest service satisfaction of any company in the auto industry by far.”

Tesla recently cut staff in China due to poor sales in 2014, but California - Tesla’s strongest market, at least in theory - failed to fulfill expectations and fell 27% last year to just 6,110 units sold.

Elon Musk cleared the air regarding the company’s sales issue on the Chinese market saying that it is not difficult for customers to charge their Tesla in China and that such assumptions came from Tesla Motors’ sales team during their discussions with potential clients. Well, it does sound awfully strange. I mean, there’s a flavor of either incompetence of boycott in all this, don’t you think?
