Tesla Model Y Tuning Kit by Unplugged Shows the Monster the EV Could Become

Ever since Teslas have been around, tuning companies have tried their best to come up with packages meant to at least increase the visual appeal of the cars. Yet, for one reason or another, tuning kits, be it performance or visual, are not all that widespread for the S, 3 and X as they could have been. Will the Y be any different?

The highly anticipated market launch of the crossover is still some time away, but most of the car’s secrets have already been spilled. Yet, tuners don’t have the physical cars to play with, so coming up with kits right now could prove something of a challenge.

But this doesn’t stop some for trying. Like the guys from Unplugged Performance, a group that over the years came up with modifications like the S-Apex or the Tesla Corsa.

This time, taking aim at the upcoming Model Y, Unplugged has already devised some modifications for the car. They put all their ideas together, came up with a rendering and shipped it on the Internet via Electrek, along with the list of changes planned.

The first thing one notices when looking at the rendering above is the different look of the Y, made so with the goal of improving aerodynamics. Also visible are the new ultra-lightweight forged wheels, which will be offered sized 19 to 21 inches.

Under the body, and unseen in this rendering, there will be an adjustable coilover suspension, adjustable sway bars, and a new braking system.

For those used to Unplugged’s work, these changes are familiar, as most of the parts are currently deployed on the Model 3 soup-ups. A fact the company does not deny in a statement released for Electrek.

“In short, all of the success we’ve had getting the most out of Model 3 will apply to the Model Y. Our design language will never lose sight of the character of the car Tesla has engineered, however we absolutely will highlight the extreme performance of the car in a new way that is easy to see.”
