Tesla Model X Wins Talent Contest Against Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

A Tesla Model X electric SUV was parked on one of Amsterdam's poshest streets, its great width barely fitting in the designated spot. It wasn't there to shop for anything, however, but was setting up an ambush instead.

It didn't know what would fall into its net, but it knew the area was frequented by expensive supercars so it was sure something would eventually drop. And when a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera reversed into the spot just behind it, it knew that was the moment it was waiting for.

The Italian supercar executed an inch-perfect parallel park - something worth commending in a vehicle with such poor rear visibility - but instead of being rewarded with the attention of the passer-bys, as any exotic vehicle is used to, it got a bit humiliated.

The Tesla's owner - who must have been close by (probably one of the people we see at the table just across the street) - punched in the not so secret code to launch the "Holiday Show" easter egg. The lights and sound show promptly started, and by the time the Lambo revved its engine it was too late: it was perfectly clear who the center of attention was.

So you might scrap this as another win for the Tesla, but we can't leave things like that. The easter egg introduced last year is probably one of the dorkiest things possible and should be used with great care. Yes, it did the job of focusing all the eyes and ears on the EV, but only because it's so ridiculous you watch in bewilderment. It is, by no means, cool.

Beating a Lamborghini in a drag race, however, is. So while this encounter with another example of the Italian manufacturer did push the overall score even further in Tesla's favor, we still feel further battles should be restricted to the drag strip.
